Since starting this blog I have posted ten pieces of writing. My aim was to write about things I care a lot about. So here are the ten things I care a lot about, so far:
What I care about | Blog Title | |
1 |
Learning from history & the experiences of others | Learning lessons |
2 |
Recognizing our place on the planet as humans and our human vulnerabilities | Lack of fear or is it arrogance? |
3 |
Taking responsibility for our lives and our decisions | Choice: Wonderful or not? |
4 |
Focusing on community & being fair | Choice in Present Times |
5 |
Personal reflection and growth | Moving towards tranquility |
6 |
Learning from others, our planet and respecting it | Original green!! |
7 |
Shifting our collective thinking towards community, cooperation and relationship | Moderation is not a dirty word |
8 |
Moderation and personal reflection | Does moderation apply to my obsession with books? |
9 |
Books & their magical quality | More on the book thing |
10 |
Sharing and being fair | Sharing the wealth |
The theme that is common across all ten blog posts is “our choices & how they impact other people, the environment and the future of society and the planet”
This makes me think back to ten years ago when Georgia and I first moved back here. I packed all of our “valuable” possessions only to find I could not afford to bring them all back with me. At first I was devastated then as I unpacked each box and rethought what I could bring with us I had an epiphany. I asked myself if I had to leave everything behind except for five things what would I take with me? In the end realized Georgia, travel papers and personal documents were all we really needed. I felt such relief. I had tortured myself for no reason. I stopped unpacking boxes and gave many of them unopened to Goodwill. We arrived in Edmonton with family photos, clothing and ourselves. I felt free – it was a wonderful sensation.
Thank you Irene for reminding me of our move to Edmonton and how powerful a feeling it was to be free of the feeling that our possessions define who we are.

Thanks for sharing your story Debra and the lesson you learned. It is one we could all benefit from hearing.
